Upgrades for single
tank systems |
Do it yourself or have our Mobile
Mechanics install them for you. |
|
Winter is here and the
cold weather can cause our VegOil cars, that we love so much
the rest of the year, to become a source of early morning
frustration. Most cold start issues are usually the result of cold VegOil or a faulty glow plug circuit.
Both issues are simple and
fairly inexpensive to resolve. |
Next time your car is difficult
to start,
try turning the key switch on
until the glow plug light goes out, repeat one more time,
then try to start it. If the car starts or sounds like it
really wants to, then it's probably glow plugs. |
|
Cold VegOil can cause your
car to be difficult or impossible to start in cold temperatures, prematurely
wear out your injector pump, cause poor performance and valve coking, along
with a host of other issues. Bringing the VegOil up to the minimum
operating temperature of 160 degrees is a simple matter.
Bringing the temperature of the vegetable oil up to 160 degrees (higher
is better) is imperative for proper atomization through the injectors.
This promotes a more complete combustion which results in better
performance, lower emissions, lower particulate matter, easier staring,
better fuel mileage, etc. |

Bosch Glow Plugs $24.99ea |

All single tank systems (this
includes virtually all of the Lovecraft conversions) should have
injection line heaters installed. The upgrade is fairly
inexpensive and will improve the performance and longevity of your
vehicle. If you have an early Lovecraft system check the heated filter for an
electric heating element (wires at the bottom of the unit for top
mounted filter). If you don't have an electric heater call us. Most
Lovecraft conversions don't have electric heating and should be modified to protect
your injector pump etc. |

|
Recommended Upgrades for single tank
systems:
- Injector line heaters (All single tank
systems)
- Inline heater (or 12 volt electric heater in fuel
filter)
- Heated fuel line or heat exchanger
Additional upgrades:
- High output alternator ( if two or more
electric heaters are used)
- Complete upgrade to dual tank system ***
|
Your coolant heated fuel filter
should have an electric heating element to bring the VegOil
up to temperature before it gets to the injector pump. If it
doesn't give us a call and we can check to see if your model
heater has an electric upgrade. If not, install an Inline
heater. This will save wear and tear on your expensive
injector pump while your waiting for the engine to get up to
operating temp. |
|
 |
Recommended Cold Weather Upgrade:
Injector line heaters for 240D,
240TD (4 cyl), 300D, TD, SD (5 cyl), 300SDL (6cyl). Simple
do it yourself installation or we can do it for you. Proper
temp. of 160 deg. to 190 deg.
is required for proper atomization and complete combustion.
(especially on single tank systems). Adequate temp. and
proper functioning glow plugs will eliminate most cold
morning start issues. Includes everything for easy
installation.
|
| |
Recommended Cold Weather Upgrade:
In-line electric heater for 240D, 240TD (4 cyl)
and 300D, 300TD (5 cyl). In-line heater to be placed before
the injector pump. Brings oil up to operating temp. until
coolant based heater reaches 160 degrees of better. Saves
wear and tear on expensive pump. Not needed if coolant based
heater has functioning electric heater and injection line
heaters are installed. |
|
|
|
 |
High output alternator for
240D, 240TD, 300D, 300TD.
85 amps. Lets you run multiple heating
systems, high end audio etc. without draining your battery.
Exact replacement no modifications needed. Specify model and
year when ordering. |
 |
Recommended Cold Weather Upgrade:
Heated fuel line for 240D, 240TD and 300D, 300TD.
Our heated fuel line has corrugated stainless steel inner
tubing with 3 times the surface area of a smooth fuel line
to heat the oil to full temp in the shortest period of time.
Preheats oil before the heated filter to assure full temp.
at injectors and lets electric heat shut off if heated
filter doesn't reach 160 degrees (many heated filters never
reach the optimum 160 degrees or higher) |
 |
Recommended Cold Weather Upgrade:
Plate heat exchanger performs
similar function as heated fuel line, but easier to install.
Does not provide as much heat as the heated fuel line but if
your heated filter is working well it will add the extra
heat needed. |

the same price. If you haven't changed your glow plugs in a
while and are having trouble starting your diesel this is
usually the culprit. $24.95 each |
 |
Bosch Injectors with Monarch
high performance tips. The Monarch tip provides a more
defined and accurate spray pattern which increases
performance and reduces un-burnt fuel resulting in better
fuel mileage, lower emissions and less particulate matter.
One of the best performance improvements for the dollar
available. $79.00ea. specify year and model when ordering |
